We perform many orthopedic surgeries from fracture repairs needing pins to complex fractures needing screws and plates.  Anterior Cruciate Ligament repairs are done regularly as well.  Most of these are done by Dr. Steve Timm who is a surgical specialist that comes to Tender Care to perform surgery.  The surgeries are done in a completely sterile environment.  Each pet has an IV(intravenous) catheter placed and is given antibiotics and pain medication even before the procedure is performed.  Our patients are kept warm with a circulating warm water blanket and are monitored by a licensed veterinary technician at all times.  We also use an EKG and pulse oximeter and well as Doppler to measure blood pressure. All pets are keep comfortable on soft blankets and with the most modern pain medications.
